Circulation figures of Midlands regional newspapers have slumped again, according to the latest ABC figures, with some Reach plc titles, including the Coventry Telegraph, showing a decrease of 27 per cent. In fact, the figures show an across-the-board decline in circulation for all registered regional dailies.
The comparative figures, compiled by media website HTFP from raw data provided by ABC, include paid-for single print copies, paid-for multiple copies – known colloquially as ‘bulks’ – and paid-for subscriptions.
Free copies and digital copies are excluded from HTFP’s analysis of the data as only a handful of titles recorded figures for these.

Almost 400 local and regional newspapers that do not publish daily were audited for 2022. For the first time in a number of years, more than 150 titles run by Bullivant Media, Iliffe Media, Newsquest and Tindle Newspapers have been included.
