MEDIA AWARDS ARE BACK

Entries may now be submitted for the Midlands Media Awards, which are being revived this year for the first time since the Covid outbreak.

The awards are being held at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, Birmingham, on 14 November, with entries covering the period from 31 July 2024 to 31 July 2025.

Entries may be submitted until 22 September by logging onto https://filmfreeway.com/midlandsmediaawards2025 while judging by a panel of experienced journalists, photographers and broadcasters will take place between 29 September and 10 October.

Llewela Bailey, Press Club chairman, said: “The Awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the region’s media – from print, digital and broadcast to photography – and to acknowledge the efforts of some very talented individuals.”

This year the awards will include a number of categories targeted at media students, with one aimed at PR agencies – highlighting their success with a Campaign of the Year which has generated the most positive media coverage.

When the Awards were last held, in 2019, Birmingham Live’s Parenting Editor Zoe Chamberlain (seen here receiving her award from journalism trainer Sue Green) won the News Reporter of the Year (Daily) category, while Bev Holder, chief reporter at the Stourbridge News (seen here received her award from NHS senior media relations manager Murray Morse) was named News Reporter of the Year (Weekly). Earlier this year, Bev moved on to become business editor at the Express & Star.
