New website coverage announced by Reach plc

MySuttonColdfield has been launched as part of Birmingham Live’s online brand – following a decision by rival group Midland News Association to publish a new weekly paper called the Royal Sutton Coldfield Chronicle.

Last August, Reach plc decided to cease publication of the Royal Sutton Coldfield Observer – one of four weeklies shut down at the same time by the publisher because of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Now former Observer journalist Nick Horner will be back reporting on his old patch again, via the new digital title, while Birmingham Live has also recruited a number of other journalists as part of its expansion coverage.

Birmingham Live editor Graeme Brown (pictured) said: “MySuttonColdfield is something we are very excited about. We have always covered the Royal Town, but this means we can give it all the more focus. BirminghamLive is the fastest-growing major news brand in the country at the moment and we wanted to use that growth to invest where it matters – in local communities.”
