Press Club Christmas Comedian
Stand-up comedian Sam Avery will be providing the laughter at this year’s Birmingham Press Club Christmas Lunch.
A favourite at comedy festivals and comedy clubs around the country, including Birmingham’s Glee Club, Sam (pictured) completes his current UK tour with an appearance in February at London’s Museum of Comedy.
Sam delights in taking his audience on a “rollercoaster of laughter” as he relates amusing tales of family life and the trials and tribulations of parenting. Beyond his stand-up comedy, however, he is also a talented writer, authoring the best-selling book “Confessions of a Learner Parent,” a heartwarming account of his experiences as a new dad. And he has amassed over 15 million views for his hilarious online videos.
This year’s lunch – which falls on the 160th anniversary of the founding of the Press Club – takes place on Thursday, 18 December at the Ming Moon Restaurant, located at the heart of Birmingham’s Chinatown. Guests will meet in the private Mandarin Suite, which can be directly accessed via the entrance at 8 Wrottesley Street, B5 4RT. Or you could enter via Ming Moon’s main entrance at 16 Hurst Street (B5 4BN), where staff will direct you to the Mandarin Suite.
It’s not far from Birmingham New Street train station but if you are travelling by car then the nearest car parks are at Chinatown APCOA or the Arcadian Centre.
And as much as most of us like Chinese food there will be a “traditional” alternative – a roast chicken dinner. But let me know your choice as soon as possible.
Tickets are £50 each. Book a table of 10 (get one place free) for £450. Payment may be made into the Club’s bank account. Details: The Birmingham Press Club Limited. Sort code 20-07-82. Account number 00463000. For reference – put festive
