Tony heads to Europe

Birmingham-based journalist and broadcaster Tony Adams is to spearhead a series of ground-breaking journalism and radio broadcasting training workshops in the Netherlands, Spain and Italy.

Scheduled to take place over the coming months, the workshops are aligned with the innovative “Google News Hub” (Digital News Innovation Fund) initiative, focusing on equipping participants with the latest techniques, tools and methodologies that shape contemporary journalism and radio broadcasting.

Tony, a former board member of Birmingham Press Club, said: “I am honoured and thrilled to have the privilege of leading these training workshops in partnership with Google News Hub. The opportunity to guide and inspire young journalists and broadcasters is truly fulfilling and I look forward to contributing to their growth and success.”

Gustaaf Vanorten, head of the Netherlands Google News Hub, said: “The opportunity to share Tony’s insights and experiences with future journalists and broadcasters is testament to his reputation and endorsement from the International Federation of Journalists and the UK’s National Union of Journalists. I have no doubt the training workshops will inspire, educate and empower those fortunate enough to attend.”

With well over 35 years of experience as a journalist and broadcaster within the commercial radio sector, Tony is chairman of the Birmingham & Coventry branch of the NUJ and a member of the NUJ Black Members Council, which monitors discrimination in employment practices in the media industry, promotes best practice and uses the Union’s guidelines to encourage anti-racist news reporting. He is an expert in audio-visual remote broadcasting solutions.
